October 2011 |
There will be a Variety
show on 29 and 30 October 2011 in Clonown Community Centre, starting
at 8 pm each night. Moore Variety Group will perform and there will be lots
of local talent. One of the highlights of the show will be comedy sketches by
‘Clonown Chancers’ Drama Group. Last year’s show was a
huge success, with the hall packed to capacity on both nights. So come along
and bring all your friends for two good nights of entertainment. Fee:
€10 (per adult). Proceeds will be divided equally between the church
restoration fund and the Clonown field project. |

The recent work in the field
is an archaeological assessment of the field, which has to be carried out as
part of the planning process. This survey is mandatory because of the
proximity of the field to the old monastery in Clonown. |

The Clonown Community
Site Project held its first AGM on 4 April 2011. A new committee was elected
with the following officers: The committee is always
open to new members, and please contact any member to join. The committee has recently applied to Roscommon
County Council for planning permission for the site project. |

There are some remaining
companies and families that have pledged a donation to the project but have
not yet paid. The committee would kindly request that these donations be made
to any committee member. All donor’s names and addresses (excluding
donation amount) will be recorded in a special register which will be stored
locally and published at a later date. |
